About Mt. Shasta

Mt. Shasta is a place of legend, lore, and exceptional
beauty. The Enneagram Center of Mt. Shasta is located at the base of the sacred
mountain at 3600 ft., and has been my home since 2002. I moved up
here from the Bay Area, and before that NYC, in order to find clear air, pure
water, uncrowded streets and stores, and the sort of atmosphere conducive to
meditation and spiritual studies. Using Mt. Shasta as a base, I have also
taught workshops in Ashland, Oregon, Nevada City, Santa Barbara, San Diego, the
East Coast, and in Europe, and have plans to expand my teaching schedule to
include the Bay Area, Sacramento, Seattle, New Orleans and other places where
students and friends are interested in sponsoring events.
There are many reasons to visit the Mt. Shasta area, above and beyond
participating in one of my retreats and workshops, and I encourage Enneagram
students to take advantage of the places and activities offered in and around
Siskiyou County. Things to do include: skiing, snowshoeing, hiking and camping,
caving, mountaineering, rafting and boating, tennis and golfing. We have
Stewart Springs Hot Springs Resort only 30 min. away, Shasta, Siskiyou, Castle
and Medicine Lakes, Castle Crags State Park, the Headwaters of the Sacramento
River in our City Park, and various waterfalls including Mossbrae, Hedgecreek
and McCloud River Falls.
Also worth exploring: Old Town Yreka, the cities of Dunsmuir and McCloud and,
only one hour to the north on Interstate 5, Ashland, Oregon, home of the
world-famous Shakespeare Festival. For those who want to experience the
energies of the volcano, one can drive up and hike to sacred Panther and Squaw
Meadows. For more information on these and other places and activities, please
go to the Visitor Information section of the local
Chamber of Commerce website.
Finally, I offer below links to books on both general interest and metaphysical
topics. I have not read all of them, but they come recommended by local friends
and colleagues and are worth a look and perhaps a purchase. For more resources
please go to the Village Books
website.
